Eeeee, I am so glad you made it! It's really good with greek yogurt or coconut yogurt for breakfast, which I have definitely been eating lately. Thanks, Lucy! <3

Happy new year! I had this tonight with Monday NA Whiskey, and it was a lovely way to send off the outgoing year. We added some black pepper to the cordial recipe, which in retrospect may have been overkill...I forgot that the Monday Whiskey does actually have some bite, but it is also really tasty! No regrets.

Have you tried Ariel dealcoholized wine? I have been really enjoying them; I have no idea how generally available they are outside of the Bay Area, but I know they do have a website which ships.

Oooooh, I LOVE the idea of putting black pepper in this-- even if it might have been a bit sinus clearing with Monday Whiskey, the resulting leftover cranberry pulp was probably DELICIOUS.

I haven't had Ariel, yet! My experiences with dealcoholized wines was so lackluster, even ones that people had written were so "real" tasting that they were worried they'd accidentally broken sobriety, that I stopped trying them unless they are shipped to me by a producer for free. Is there a particular varietal of Ariel that you like best, or are they all pretty good?

It was SO GOOD! Next time I make it I will try tossing the cracked black pepper in a bouquet garni bag so I don't have to decide what to do with chunks lurking in the pulp; honestly I am considering making this again just to devour the pulp (with the cordial a lovely bonus!).

At this point Ariel only makes one red and one white, a cab sav & a chardonnay. I really like them both. If anything, the chardonnay is a little mild when first uncorked, which I find almost upsettingly drinkable, but it gets a bit sharper left in the fridge for a week while I forget it's there and drink other things, so if you find it a bit too smooth initially that might work for you.

I should note that I have not historically been much of a wine drinker, so it's completely possible you'll find these lackluster too and if so I apologize for steering you wrong, but otoh I have also been appalled by the other dealcoholized wines I've tried. Chateau Diana is particularly meh, though if you're ever desperate for an ok mulled wine a 1:1 mix of their red blend & the Fre merlot was surprisingly greater than the sum of its parts. I would not drink it without added spices to mask its inadequacy, however.

It turns out to also be delicious mixed with ginger beer!

The cranberry cordial+peppercorns, that is, not the wine.
